Mr Vinod Kumar

Mr Vinod Kumar is the Medical Director at Vision Clinic Wales. As a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon over the past twenty years, Mr Kumar has established a reputation as one of the leading eye surgeons in the UK.​

Mr Kumar graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School, and completed his general ophthalmic training in London and Birmingham. He went on to pursue specialist training in cornea and anterior segment surgery, and glaucoma.

Prior to accepting a consultant post in Cardiff, Mr Kumar completed an ERTN Fellowship at the University of Crete, Greece, where he trained in refractive surgery under Professor I Pallikaris, widely regarded as the father of LASIK surgery.

Mr Kumar has presented over fifty research papers and given invited lectures at both a national and international level. He continues to be a contributor to several publications.
Ms Diana Urbaneja
Specialist Consultant

Ms Urbaneja is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Bridgend and Cardiff, specialising in cataract and glaucoma management, including laser procedures such as selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) and complex glaucoma surgery.
After graduating from medical school at the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas, Ms Urbaneja completed her ophthalmology training in Madrid, Spain. She went on to complete three glaucoma fellowships in Barcelona, Cardiff and London, the latter at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Ms Urbaneja is the glaucoma lead for Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board, and has contributed to reduced waiting times and earlier detection for glaucoma patients. She is also a member of one of the largest European investigation groups for the Paul Glaucoma Implant. Ms Urbaneja is currently working on a study for the detection of acute angle closure glaucoma using anterior segment OCT to better identify those at higher risk of the disease.
